Situated on the Bay of Bengal, 60 kilometres south of the state capital of Bhubaneswar, Puri is the spiritual capital of Orissa.

This is mainly owing to its enormous number of temples that Puri is a major fulcrum of pilgrimage in India. As a tourism centre, Puri is famous for its historic antiquities, religious sanctuaries, architectural grandeur, seascape beauty and moderate climate. Its golden beaches are another attraction for tourists around the world. The city is successfully entered its name in the world map of tourism for its ancient Kalinga architecture and as a fourth Dham of Hindus. This hub of attractions includes unique monuments like those of Jagannath Temple and the Sun Temple at Konark. It has the Chilika Lake – one of the largest brackish water lakes in India. It offers an ideal resort for birds that migrate from different parts of the continent. By virtue of its geographical location, the climate of Puri and its safe beaches are welcoming throughout the year.
