This 8-day customised tour you takes through the splendours of North East India including Darjeeling, Pelling, Gangtok and Kalimpong and the amazing wonders of nature and man that lie within these locales.

Start your journey at Dorje Ling, or place of the Thunderbolt, standing high in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2134m, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks, with the Kanchendzonga rising higher than all the others. Darjeeling is also the home to the famous Ghoom Monastery built in 1875.

After Darjeeling, drive to Pelling and visit the Pemayangste Monastery, Khechipalri Lake, Kanchenjunga Fall and Rock Garden. The journey at Pelling ends with a drive to Gangtok in Sikkim. At an altitude of 1750m, Gangtok became the state capital in the mid 19th century and has undergone rapid development since then. The downtown area is dominated by huge government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols.

From Gangtok, ride to Kalimpong. At an altitude of 1250m, Kalimpong’s location is ideal for a pleasant and relaxed getaway. Its clement weather has made Kalimpong’s orchids and gladiole well renowned.

Day 01: Bagdogra/NJP – Darjeeling (93 kms, 3 hours approx.)

Assistance at the airport/station on arrival and drive to Darjeeling. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Hills”, it remains just as alluring with its tiny waterfalls, little villages and a narrow gauge railway track, World Famous Tea Gardens and snow capped mountains.

Day 02: Darjeeling

Today you leave early morning to visit Tiger Hill to catch the beautiful sunrise and Himalayan Range like Kanchandzonga, Mount Everest etc. One can see the horizon changing colors just before sunrise and then the entire Himalayan range turn golden. It is truly a majestic sight. One can also catch a glimpse of the 15ft high Mythey Buddha and Ghoom Monastery on the way back from Tiger Hill.   You will be taken back to the hotel for breakfast and proceed for a city tour to visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday) which was started by Tenzing Norgay after he climbed Mt. Everest, Zoological Park (closed on Thursday), Tibetan Refugee Centre (closed on Sunday), Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Tea Estate (from outside), Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda.

Day 03: Darjeeling – Pelling (75 kms, 3 hours approx.)

After breakfast you will proceed for a 3 hour drive to Pelling. Pelling is another serene, mountain village which lies in the western districts of Sikkim.

Day 04: Pelling

After breakfast you may proceed for full day city tour visiting Pemayangste Monastery, Rabtense Ruins, Helipad, Rambi, Darap, Khechipalri Lake, Kanchenjunga Fall and Rock Garden.

Day 05: Pelling – Gangtok (127 kms, 5 hours approx.)

Today you will be heading for a 5 hour drive to Gangtok in Sikkim. Gangtok is a resting ground for people traveling to North Sikkim. It is surrounded by Monasteries and Orchids, Gangtok is truly a travellers delight. Later you will proceed for sightseeing in Gangtok visiting Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Flower Show, Do Drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Cottage Industry and Bakthang Falls.

Day 06: Gangtok

Today will be a full-day excursion to Changu Lake which is 35 Kms from Gangtok at an altitude of 12,400 feet. You will also be visiting the New Baba Mandir before returning to the hotel.

Day 07: Gangtok - Kalimpong (83 kms, 3 hrs approx.)

Post breakfast, today you will take a 3 hour drive to Kalimpong. Kalimpong is ideal for a pleasant, relaxed getaway. Its clement weather has made Kalimpong’s orchids and gladiole well renowned. The afternoon includes sightseeing in the city visiting Zang Dog Palri Fo Brang Monastery, Mangal Dham and flower nurseries.

Day 08: Kalimpong – Bagdogra/NJP (80 kms, 3 hours approx.)

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Bagdogra/NJP in time for flight/train to onward destination
