Splendours of the East
This 8-day customised tour you takes through the splendours of North East India including Darjeeling, Pelling, Gangtok and Kalimpong and the amazing wonders of nature and man that lie within these locales.
Start your journey at Dorje Ling, or place of the Thunderbolt, standing high in the Himalayas at an altitude of 2134m, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped mountain peaks, with the Kanchendzonga rising higher than all the others. Darjeeling is also the home to the famous Ghoom Monastery built in 1875.
After Darjeeling, drive to Pelling and visit the Pemayangste Monastery, Khechipalri Lake, Kanchenjunga Fall and Rock Garden. The journey at Pelling ends with a drive to Gangtok in Sikkim. At an altitude of 1750m, Gangtok became the state capital in the mid 19th century and has undergone rapid development since then. The downtown area is dominated by huge government buildings decorated with traditional Buddhist symbols.
From Gangtok, ride to Kalimpong. At an altitude of 1250m, Kalimpong’s location is ideal for a pleasant and relaxed getaway. Its clement weather has made Kalimpong’s orchids and gladiole well renowned.
